VCollab software, powered by the CAX file format, is the most comprehensive Visual Collaboration Solution available for CAE to help companies accelerate Innovation. VCollab tools enable product development companies to extract Intelligent Simulation Information from simulation data for easier sharing, improved design reviews and better, faster design decisions. VCollab users improve efficiency for generating actionable CAE results and thereby reduce unnecessary delays in design decisions.
The VCollab solution is based on the CAX format, the first common, portable file format for sharing and storing CAE models & results as well as the CAE information. Using a refined data-extraction and data-reduction process, VCollab creates CAX files that are up to 99% smaller than native CAE files - which makes broad sharing of comprehensive results possible.
CAX Generation Tools
VCollab offers three main tools to convert 3D models to its proprietary .CAX format:
- VMoveCAD supporting many native CAD formats as well as neutral formats like STEP
- VMoveCAE supporting leading CAE result and mesh file formats
- CAX Writer API enabling end-users to write .CAX converters for their in-house codes or software vendors to do the same for their commercial products.
Once models from different sources are converted to .CAX, they can be merged and users can compare both, geometries and CAE results from different designs, load cases, etc.
Viewer Options
The concepts behind the VCollab viewing solutions are:
- Common viewers with a common user interface for all models supported by VCollab including CAD, different CAE solvers, test results, ...
- Easy access and ease of use for analysts and everybody else in the extended development team
- Capability to automate the creation of smart 3D reports to share with the whole organization
Viewer options for VCollab cover the complete range from "professional" viewers enabling full interrogation of CAE models to free versions suitable to share relevant 3D CAE information with everybody involved in product development.
- VCollab Presenter Light: free desktop viewer to look at 3D reports using viewpoints
- VCollab Presenter: allows comprehensive model interrogation featuring powerful tools like model and result comparisons, hot spot finder, etc.
- VCollab Professional: offers all the capabilities of Presenter plus the capability to create smart 3D reports either interactively or automatically using scripts and the Python API.
VCollab Pro further offers the possibility to publish smart 3D reports for free viewing in any current browser and on any platform, phone, tablet or desktop (similar capabilities as Presenter Light), eliminating the need to install any software. Other optional features of VCollab Pro include export to PDF and read/write of JT models.
